Background

Community Southwest Ltd is an alliance of thirteen (as at October 2009) Not for Profit organisations based in Southwest Victoria and was established to provide a representative voice to governments, government agencies and to industry and commerce. The CSW Mission is “To be a strong influence in developing stronger, fairer and more self dependent local communities” and through its bi-annual conference and other projects provides capacity building and social inclusion activities that advance the social wellbeing of our region.

Additionally, Community Southwest Ltd members work in concert to provide cross organisational efficiencies in administrative and implementation practices and through regular Board and governance meetings consider innovative, strategic and operational matters that may positively impact on our region, the Community Southwest Ltd membership and their respective clientele.

The thirteen member organisations represent a significant component of the regional workforce and have workplaces in Portland, Hamilton, Warrnambool, Camperdown & Geelong and provide remotes services to many of the smaller towns in the region, employing in excess of 770 staff, servicing over 14000 clients (with many of these on a daily or weekly basis) and contributing in excess of $50M to the regional economy.

As can be seen from the following list of members (Membership), Community Southwest Ltd membership is diverse and their regular formal and informal meetings provide the ideal forum for identification and resolution of regional issues using the aggregated talent and resources of the alliance.

Our membership has an extensive knowledge of regional needs, a strong desire to contribute and a long term commitment to the progress of our region.

We believe that Community Southwest Ltd has the capacity to strongly contribute to regional planning and development issues and as such should be considered an important component of any regional consultation process or of any initiative that may impact on the social wellbeing of our region. As such, we invite you to consider Community Southwest Ltd as a key stakeholder in any regional initiative, strategy development or planning process.

Community Southwest Ltd, through its Executive Officer, Allan Bassett, looks forward to working closely with our community to maximize contributions to the capacity, health and wellbeing of the South West.
