Also a number of the alliance members have a need for volunteers to assist within their organisations. Volunteer roles can be many and varied. They might include going along with participants to events and on trips, caring for people, helping with fundraising, being a part of a governance committee or working in a retail store.

Volunteers play an important role. They provide a link between the community and those being provided with a service. Volunteers of all ages and levels of experience are needed in all areas.

Volunteering can be a very rewarding means of contributing to society and for many people, young and old, volunteering provides a means to develop workplace skills or to continue to contribute after retirement from full-time work.
